Cost of loft conversion London

Loft conversion prices vary from region to region within the UK and, of course, no two conversions are likely to be the same. But, we can use some ballpark figures and rule-of-thumb.

The first, and arguably the most important, is that by building a loft conversion you should immediately add at least the amount you spend onto the value of your house.

And it just keeps on getting better.

Figures from surveys consistantly show that a conversion which incorporates an attic bedroom and en-suite bathroom can add up to 20% to the value of your home.

Cost of loft conversion in london usually cost up to £50,000 though throughout the UK the average seems to be around the £20,000 – £35,000 mark.

These costs are when employing a specialist loft conversion company in London and they can be drastically reduced by doing some of the work yourself with a DIY loft conversion.

# Cost of loft conversion in London #

Loft conversion cost London,

Much of course depends on the type of conversion. For example, a basic loft storage solution can often be done in just a day or two and there are some specialist loft conversion companies who will, for around £1000-2000, install joists, a new hatch, lighting and a loft ladder in just 24 hours.

But, for a full scale, and well built loft conversion, loft conversion prices are usually somewhere between £19-£50,000.

The following is a guide to the loft conversion prices you could expect to pay (note – figures are estimates which don’t take into account regional variations but still provide a useful guide)

We specialise in the installation of RSJ Beam, Steel Beams, Universal Beams and Concrete Lintels.

We offer a complete supply and fitting Rsj. We can work from existing plans or we can make plans/drawings for you. We are happy to give you a free estimate or consultation. Below is a brief description of the RSJ installation process.

We have installed hundreds of Rsj beams successfully since 2005. We do fitting Rsj to make new openings for loft conversions, kitchen extensions, room extensions and chimney breast removals. This is not a job for the inexperienced. Removing existing walls and brickwork and installing a steel beam requires extensive preparation and experience. How Do You Install An Rsj?

When you plan to remove a wall or a section of wall to create a new opening, you to insert a steel RSJ beam or concrete beam to support the roof and the wall weight. Using thick plywood or softwood and cast concrete pad stones Make two wooden forms or boxes to bed the RSJ to the size required by the Commix the concrete to the proportions 1 part cement : 2 parts sand :4 parts aggregate then bed the pad stones in mortar at the top of each pier. Build a work platform by placing doubled-up scaffold boards between steady stepladders and Apply mortar to the pad stones and set the RSJ in place. Work skilfully with a bricklaying trowel and reinforce it with a wooden batten and a hammer, apply mortar and build the bricks on top of the beam. It will take two days for the mortar to dry then remove the props and the needles and fill in the holes.

With exposure to wind, rain, frost etc, the mortar holding bricks (or stone) together on an external wall will often start to crumble away and fall out. On older properties, the pointing brick will actually be a harder mortar than the bonding mortar, so once this is dislodged, the softer bonding mortar will become exposed and wear away quite quickly.

This sort of damage can take decades to occur but it is important to repair the pointing brickwork as necessary otherwise water will increasingly penetrate and damage the wall.

If the damage is limited to a small area, just that area can be repaired, however this repointed brickwork will tend to then stand out. Generally a whole wall face will have weather in a similar way, so the whole wall will need repointing at the same time.

Restoring brickwork is time consuming to achieve a good overall appearance but is worth the effort.

Restoring brickwork above the height you can comfortably reach from ground level requires scaffolding or an access tower, don’t try to work from a ladder, it is uncomfortable and unsafe.

Cleaning out the old mortar

Work down the wall (this will avoid any debris falling on to areas which have already been repointed), working on about 3 rows of bricks at a time.

On soft mortar use a hook or old screwdriver to rack out the old mortar, alternatively use a ‘plugging’ chisel (right) and club hammer – start by taking out the vertical joints, then work on the horizontal joints (if you clear the horizontal joints first, you will risk chipping into the brick above or below when you come to clear the vertical joints). Remove the old mortar back to a depth of 8 to 12 mm from the front face (at least equal to the width of the joints) – where the old mortar is loose beyond this depth, clean it back until fairly firm mortar is located. Some old brickwork can have very narrow joints in places – where the hook or chisel is too wide, use a masonry saw, or hacksaw blade to remove the mortar.

TIP: Don’t try to speed up the job by using a disc cutter or angle grinder, it is impossible to keep the disc lined up with the mortar beds and every miss alignment will damage the neighbouring brick.

Make sure that the old mortar is removed from the top, bottom and sides of the bricks so that the new mortar will adhere to them.

Any damaged or loose bricks should be before proceeding with the repointing brick. When refitting such bricks, make sure that the new mortar bed is well back from the front face so that they can be finished with the new repointing brickwork.

, Pointing brick work , Brickwork pricing , Repointing brickwork cost

The repointing mortar

The usual mortar for repointing brickwork is either a 6:1:1 mix of builders sand/hydrated lime/cement or a 3:1 mix of sharp sand/hydrated lime. Measure the amounts carefully so that each batch will set to a consistent colouring.

Don’t use a simple sand/cement mix as it will trap water in the wall and any frost will loosen it; also, it will tend to set too quickly and form weak bonds to the bricks.

Only mix up a small amount of mortar at a time (about half a bucket) as repointing brickwork is time consuming so you won’t do a very large area before the mortar will start to go off.

The consistency of the mortar is very important, (if it is too wet it is hard to apply and will get on the face of the bricks), it needs to be fairly firm so that you can cut it into narrow strips with the trowel and the strips stay in shape. As a test, the mortar should stand up on the trowel without sagging.

Repointing brickwork

Don’t attempt to re-point brickwork if heavy rain or frost are expected.

Remove all dust and debris from the joints using a large soft brush, and then dampen the joints using either a wetted soft brush or a fine watering spray – you need to damped the existing mortar at the back of the joints as well as the sides of the bricks.

Put a small amount of mortar on a hawk and, using a pointing trowel flatten the mortar so that it is about as high as the joints between the bricks with a fairly straight edge on one side.

Repoint the bed (horizontal) joints first and then the head (vertical) joints working downwards and sideways. Concentrate on about one square metre of wall at a time.

Tilt the hawk away from the wall and use the trowel to chop off a strip of mortar about the width of the pointing from the front edge of the mortar. Move the trowel towards the wall at the same time pulling the hawk away from the wall. A narrow strip of mortar will now be on the edge of the trowel.

Keeping the trowel at an angle, move the mortar to the joint to be filled.

Use a twisting wrist action to pull the mortar against the upper brick and pull the trowel away.

Now having an empty trowel, repeat the process to build up the amount of mortar in the joint.

When an area of joints has been filled, use the appropriate technique (as shown below) to give the required finish.

Keep the direction of the vertical strikes the same all over a wall, otherwise it may look peculiar.RECESSED KEYRecessed key – the mortar needs to be racked out to a consistent depth from the face of the wall and then the face of the mortar is pressed back firmly using a metal jointer tool or a piece of wood. A tool known as a ‘chariot’, which is designed to recess the joint evenly, can also be used.Generally it is not recommended for external brickwork as water will collect in the recess.

Brick repair is required as soon as possible, when the problem of spalling is identified in walls. Spalling refers to the crumbling of
concrete and bricks which are too soft or absorbent, and as a result, retain too much water or moisture, deteriorating their surface. Spalling usually takes place in small areas of walls, so the most common way of fixing this problem is by replacing the particular bricks which have been affected.

Below are the essential things that you require and steps as to how you can replace spalled bricks.

__ Brick restoration london __ Brickwork london __

Tools and Equipment Needed:

Cold Chisel

Club Hammer

Drill

Sharp Trowel

6 to 8 mm Masonry Bit

Replacement Bricks

Mortar

Water

__ Brickwork north london __ Brickwork in London __

Step 1: Observe and Analyze the Problem

Before you get to replace the spalling bricks, it is important that you determine the reason for and the extent of the problem, so that it can be resolved without causing any future damage to the wall itself. Furthermore, you must consider how many bricks need replacement. Only 3 to 4 bricks can be taken out of the wall at one point in time. If extensive deterioration is present, then it is recommended that the assistance of a specialist is sought out.

Step 2: Finding the Right Replacement

Brickwork north london , Brickwork in London ,Brick restoration london , Brickwork london ,

You must see to it that the replacement bricks match the other bricks used in your wall, and the pointing style (the practice of fixing mortar joints between bricks) remains consistent. This may seem to be obvious, but in reality this requires careful research. It is not always easy to find identical bricks in terms of their color and texture, especially if the ones you require are old.

Step 3: Cut out the Spalled brick

Scrape the mortar around the brick and then get the brick out using a cold chisel and a club hammer. If that does not work, you can drill holes in the brick using a 6 to 8 mm masonry bit, and then use the cold chisel and hammer to crumble the brick down. After all the damaged bricks have been taken out, and clean the wall for any scraps left behind.

Step 4: Mortar

Mortar is one of the most crucial requirements for laying down bricks. Mortar can be Porter cement based, or a mixture of lime and sand or a ready to use mortar mix from the market. Depending on your need, you can ask your local home improvement store to give you advice on what type of mortar to use for your wall repair.

Step 5: Replacement

Once the mix is ready, dampen the area to be repaired with water, and apply mortar to the base and the respective sides of the cavity horizontally, and on top of the brick with a sharp trowel, making a layer of about 10 mm. Then, carefully slide the brick in the hole and tap it until it comes in line with the surrounding brick work. With the handle of the trowel, make the new mortar joint similar to the joints in the rest of the wall to give the wall a uniform look.

If you have a brick house that needs a facelift, before you pick up a brush and paint can, read below. Although you can paint brick without causing damage to the surface, there are certain things you should know about the process prior to heading out to the paint store. Once you’ve finished this project, if you’re feeling adventurous, I’d suggest checking out Earth 4 Energy – Make your own solar panels! – you’ll be saving money on your energy bills in no time!

– Brickwork north london — Brickwork in London — Brick restoration london — Brickwork london –

Why Paint Brick? People choose to paint brick houses if the brick is damaged or is of inferior quality. White stains and areas of discolored brick can be eye sores that beg to be cleaned up and covered. Choosing the best brick paint is really important; elastomeric paint can do wonders to the look of faded/damaged brick because of its thick coat and elasticity.

If your brick is not damaged and looks good in its normal condition you may want to consider keeping it. Once you paint brick you commit yourself to years of maintenance potentially. If you use the proper brick paint and prep the area correctly, however, you can prevent this constant upkeep.

Efflorescence. Efflorescence is white staining that occurs on exterior brick as a result of salt deposits. When water interacts with the brick the salt inside the material dries and stains. These stains can be difficult to remove and will not usually disappear permanently with plain water.Sometimes you can remove the stains with a stiff brush. If this method does not work try applying a diluted formula of muriatic acid. Consult a mason before you do this, however, as not all efflorescence will be cleaned by this acid. When you are applying the solution be aware that you are working with acid — a potentially dangerous substance. Use gloves and the proper applicators.

/ brick restoration london / brickwork london / brickwork north london / brickwork in london/

Preparation: Scraping and Caulking. Eliminate, first, any efflorescence with the above method(s). Using a scraper, widen cracks that are preexisting. Eliminate the dust in the brick with a brush and/or power vacuum device. Seal the cracks with 100% acrylic or siliconized acrylic caulk. You made need to repeat the application three to five hours later if needed. If there are joints that need mending re-point them as well. Be sure that the chimney caps have no cracks or holes in them.

Mildew. If you have mildew on your brick use a bleach solution on the surface. A generic household version of bleach will work. Leave the solution on the brick for 15 minutes or so. Remove the treated mildew with a stiff brush.

Prime the brick. If the condition of the brick is in good to great condition, there might be no need to prime your brick house or wall. In most cases, priming will help the appearance of the paint job, however. Use a high quality exterior latex primer that can be used on masonry surfaces. Make sure you prime any areas where there was efflorescence first (as it may need two coats of primer to match the rest of the brick).

Painting: Conventional Exterior Paint. Choose a color that will suit your home. Buy high quality exterior 100% acrylic latex exterior house paint. You can use flat, satin, or semi-gloss finish, depending on your preference.

Painting: Elastomeric Paint. This is the brick paint I would recommend. Elastomeric paint is a dense rubberized paint high in acrylic content. It is usually a water-based substance which is used by painters for its water-repelling assets. When applied it forms a water-repellant casing between the masonry/stucco and the outside elements. The paint can fill cracks up to 1/8 inch because of its great (300%) elasticity. You will need to apply two coats of elastometic paint to achieve maximum durability. Make sure you consult the manufacture’s “spread rate”-which will be 40-60 square feet per gallon. This will ensure maximum protection and performance when you paint exterior brick.

Lead Paint. If you suspect that there is lead paint on the exterior of your home, do not attempt to scrap or sand. Seek a lead specialist prior to performing any work. Lead paint can be hazardous in large amounts.

Brickwork north london , Brickwork in London ,Brick restoration london , Brickwork london ,

Always consult a professional painter and/or have a conversation with the paint specialist at the store before you attempt to paint your home. Make sure too, that the color(s) you choose will be suitable. Get the advice of a friend or professional with a good color sense before choosing a crazy color — remember, you are painting an entire home, not a bathroom. Repainting the exterior brick of a home can be a costly endeavor, so sometimes being conservative on color pays off.

Broken bricks on driveway London and walkways are nothing new. After some time, bricks could break due to the wear and tear of time or because of the harsh environmental elements that these bricks have to stand against.

Regardless of what caused the bricks to break, it is important to replace the bricks immediately as this may cause people to have accidents. They could trip and break their ankles when they walk on the broken bricks. You could hire someone to do it for you, which may cost a lot, or you could try replacing it by yourself.

If you are only replacing a few bricks or if your driveways in London or patio is just small, you can try replacing it by yourself. It is quite easy to do and you won’t have to spend a lot to fix it.

Remove the old bricks. The first thing you have to do is to remove all the bricks that you want to replace. If your bricks are not set using mortar then use a flat-head screwdriver to lift it up. Spray water on your exposed sand base then tamp it down with a tamping tool to even out the layer. If your bricks are set in place with mortar, use a chisel or a hammer to remove the mortar around the bricks.Fix the layer on your walkway. After removing the old bricks that you want to replace, add an even layer of fine sand on the exposed sand base of your walkway. This is for walkways that do not use mortar on the bricks. Make sure that the new sand that you have placed rises a little from the bottom of your old bricks that are still in place and even it out until it is an even layer. For walkways that uses mortar, mix the mortar in a mortar box and put an even layer on the exposed sand base. If you don’t have a premixed mortar, use 1 part of cement for every 3 parts of sand. Keep adding water until you achieve a mud like consistency then pour an inch tall layer of mortar on your sand base. Level it out to make sure that your bricks will be leveled when you place it.

Driveways london , Driveway london , brickwork in london – contact us

Place the new bricks. Once you are done fixing the layer of your bricks, carefully place one brick at a time. For walkways with no mortar, make sure the new brick is leveled with the other bricks. Remove some sand if it’s too high or add more sand if it’s too low. For walkways with mortar, gently push the brick in place until it is leveled with the other bricks. Let it dry completely to make sure the bricks are settled and secured in place.

Clean the area. Once you are done replacing all your bricks, you can scatter find sand over the area and sweep it to the side to fill the gaps with sand or you can use grout. This will secure the bricks in place making it more sturdy and protected. When the mortar has completely dried, spray the bricks with water to wash off any debris or dirt from your newly replaced walkway.

Unless there’s a serious structural problem, wide, top-to-bottom cracks in brick or concrete-block walls are easy to fill. And there’s no need to be obsessed with perfection. Work through the broken bricks instead of trying to replace them.

Tools needed to cracked brickwork repair : brick pointing london

cold chisel

sledgehammer

brick chisel

wire brush

garden hose

mixing bucket and stir stick

small sharp trowel

wide board to cover crack

2 × 4 prop

large funnel

rubber tubing to fit over funnel end

mortar jointer or thin metal rod

paintbrush

Materials needed to cracked brickwork repair: repointing london

mortar mix

Portland cement

hydrated lime

sand

scrap corrugated cardboard

mortar coloring

duct tape

exterior paint or cement paint

solvent for paint

Time: about 3 to 4 hours for cleaning and initial filling; additional time depending on extent of damage

Wearing safety goggles, begin by cleaning all crumbling brick and mortar from the cracked brickwork with a cold chisel and sledgehammer. Where the cracked brickwork runs through a brick or a concrete block, use a brick chisel, angled into the cracked brickwork, to widen and undercut the break. Enlarge the crack to a consistent width and clean the inside of the crack to its full depth, or as far in as you can reach. Wire-brush the crack, inside and out, to remove debris, then flush it thoroughly with water from a garden hose.

Cracked brickwork that affect only a single layer of brick can be filled with mortar. Mix a small amount of mortar according to the directions on the package. Spread a little mortar on a scrap of corrugated cardboard, where it will dry quickly and reveal its true color. Add mortar coloring to the mortar as necessary to match the old mortar, experimenting with the cardboard as you add coloring. When the dried test batch matches the old mortar, mix enough mortar to fill the crack and add coloring in the tested proportion.

Pointing London, Re-pointing London, Brick pointing London, Repointing London, – Contact Us for free estimate

Spray the cracked brickwork thoroughly with the garden hose. Fill the crack with mortar using a small, sharp trowel to force the mortar into the full depth of the crack. Treat the crack as one long joint, filling cleaned-out joints and the gaps in cracked brickwork or concrete block evenly all along the cracked brickwork repair.
When the cracked brickwork repair is solidly packed with mortar, finish the surface with a jointer and the trowel. Match the old joints where the cracked brickwork follows a joint: trowel the mortar to match the surface where the mended surface is block or brick. Let the crack cure thoroughly for at least 1 week. Spray the patched area lightly with the garden hose several times a day during the curing period.

When the cracked brickwork is very wide and deep, fill it with a thin grout mixture. Wearing safety goggles, chisel out, wire-brush, and flush the crack with water to clean it thoroughly. Mix a small amount of filler, using 1 part Portland cement,1 part hydrated lime, and 6 parts sand. Mix the dry materials and add water slowly to form a thin, easily pourable grout. Add mortar coloring, testing the mixture on a scrap of corrugated cardboard, to match the color of the old mortar; then mix a bucketful of grout in the same proportions.

Re-pointing London

Working quickly, spray the inside of the crack lightly to dampen it. Mask the lower third of the crack with duct tape set flat over the opening. Set a wide board flat against the wall to hold the tape in place, and wedge it firmly upright with a 2 × 4.

Use a wide-mouthed funnel and a length of rubber tubing to fill the crack; you’ll need a helper for this. Push one end of the tubing over the narrow end of the funnel and set the open end into the crack. Hold the end of the tubing at least halfway into the crack and as near the bottom as you can reach over the board wedged against the wall. Pour grout slowly into the funnel to fill the bottom of the crack. Then remove the tubing from the crack. Rinse the funnel, the tubing, and the bucket thoroughly.

Let the partially filled crack set for about 1 day. Then remove the board and the duct tape from the cracked brickwork. Use a mortar jointer — or thin metal rod bent to form a handle — and a trowel to finish the cracked brickwork, matching both joint and brick or concrete block textures. Then fill the crack further.

Mix a bucketful of grout in the same proportions as before. Working quickly, spray the crack lightly with a garden hose. Mask the cracked brickwork with duct tape and wedge the board back into place against the wall. Using the wide-mouthed funnel, pour the grout into the crack as before. Let it dry for 1 day and remove the mask; finish the grout to match joints and brick or block.

Repeat the filling and finishing process daily, section by section, until the entire crack has been filled. Be sure to mix and color the grout in the same proportion each time. Let the grout cure thoroughly for at least a week after the final application of grout. Spray the patched area lightly with the garden hose several times a day during the curing period.
Finish either mortar-filled or grout-filled cracks by painting the patch to match the surrounding wall. For a painted wall, touch up the newly filled and cured crack with the same exterior paint used on the wall. To hide the crack in a brick wall, use cement paint the same color as the bricks. Thin the paint and apply it carefully to the crack where it passes through bricks; repeat as necessary until the color is correct.

Specification of ‘Bricks Walls’

Pointing London

Brick walls are probably the most common building elements in construction of a house in India. These walls form basic units for creating rooms that make up a house. The walls besides being space dividers are also structural elements that transfer the load of the roof to the ground. Brick walls are constructed on strip spread or raft foundations that support the walls. The walls are constructed using bricks and mortar. These can also be constructed with various structural qualities and thicknesses.

Brickwork (pointing up brickwork)

Brick walls are constructed by joining bricks with cement mortar in arrangements called English Bond, Flemish Bond or Rat Trap Bond. These bonds give different external appearances to the wall. All construction systems of brick walls are such devised that vertical cross joints in any layers are staggered. The bricks thus bonded form a solid mass that does not split when the wall is loaded with live loads and dead loads.

Classification of BrickWork

The brickwork specification work according to the quality of brick is following.

First class brickwork

Second class brickwork

Third class brickwork

First Class BrickWork

First class brick work is made by using first class bricks and cement mortar. This brick work is used for load bearing walls. It is made in rich mortar in which the cement and sand ratio is from 1:3 to 1: 6.

First class bricks are identified by their uniform color and a ringing sound when struck. The bricks are equal in size and have even edges and surfaces. These bricks do not chip and don’t have any cracks. First class bricks do not absorb water more than 1/6 of their weight. There is no salty residue when the bricks are dry. First class bricks have a minimum crushing strength of 105.kg. Per sq. cm

Bricks of first class quality

Second Class BrickWork

Second class bricks work is made by using second class bricks and cement mortar. These bricks also have the property of first class bricks but are not very regular or even in shape. These bricks should not be used for load bearing walls for more than two storey buildings. Second class bricks have minimum crushing strength 70.kg per sq. meter.

Pointing London, Re-pointing London, Brick pointing London, Repointing London, – Contact Us for free estimate

Second class quality of bricks

Third Class BrickWork

This type of brickwork is made by using third class bricks and cement mortar or mud mortar. Third class brickwork is not made in any Govt. work. Generally this type of brick work is made for temporary work in private sector.

Mortar

Mortar is a mix used to bind brick, stone etc to each other.
It can thus be seen as a binding material that bonds bricks, stones to make a wall or for cladding purpose. Normally cement mortar is used in brickwork in present day construction though lime mortar can also be used but it requires superior craftsmanship and is hence infrequently used.

Cement Mortar

Cement mortar is a mix of cement and sand with water. The cement is binding material which requires sand as a filler material. This cement mortar mix in wet state is plastic and binds two materials when it dries. Mortar is generally defined as 1:2 or 1:3 or 1:7 etc. This means that one part of cement is mixed with 2, 3 or 7 parts of sand.

Precaution for mixing cement mortar

The following steps should be taken carefully while mixing materials for cement mortar.

The mix should be made on a dry, clean, flat surface.

The mix should be as per specifications.

The mix should be by volume.

The quantity of water should be such that the mix can be easily spread over bricks or applied on a vertical surface. Water more then required quantity may spoil the mix and it can reduce the strength of masonry.

The mix should be used within half an hour of its preparation.

Brick repointing London

Brick Wall Foundations

Brick wall foundations are normally made as strip foundations.
These are continuous along the length of wall and hence called as strip foundations. These form structural components of construction system by which the load of whole building is transferred to the ground.
Foundations are made in dug out trenches so that a hard stable surface on which the building is supported can be obtained because the top surface of the ground normally does not have load bearing capacity to take the load of the building. The other reason is that foundations can by this method be hidden from view. The architect needs to provide a foundation plan that indicates exactly where the foundation trenches are to be dug.

The foundation trenches are dug after being marked on center line principle on the site according to architect’s drawings. The size of trench varies with the thickness of walls and the load bearing capacity of the soil. The base of dug trench is rammed to solidify the surface. On rammed surface a layer of cement concrete is laid. This is normally 6 to 8 inches thick. This base concrete layer needs to be cured for it attains its expected strength. Base concrete layers or courses of bricks are laid to create a stepped base that would help in distributing the load over a larger surface of the foundation.

Precautions during construction of brick wall foundations

The marking of foundations must be absolutely accurate as the location of walls depends on these markings.

The trenches should not be dug in rainy season. The bricks, mortar mix and cement concrete mix should be as per specifications.

The width and depth of the trenches depends on loading and soil conditions. As the foundation is an expanded base to distribute the load coming on it over a large area on ground. The width of the wall foundation depends on whether the wall is a load bearing wall, a non load bearing wall, a partition wall or a toe wall.

Load Bearing Walls

The walls that support beams and roof slabs.

These walls take the load of super structure and transmit it to the ground through foundation.

These can also serve the purpose of dividing the space into required rooms etc.

These are also accommodating door and windows where required.

These are of 9” or more thickness.

Such walls are made in first class bricks and rich mortar.

Non Load Bearing Walls

These walls serve the purpose of dividing the space into required rooms etc.

These are also accommodating door and windows where required.

These can be made into thin sections to save the space.

Non load bearing walls are only partition having no load of super structure so these can be easily changed whenever required to change the space of the room.

These walls are made 3 inches, 4.5 inches and 9 inches thick as per the requirement of the site.

Super Structure:

The word super structure used in construction work means/denotes following.

Brick work from DPC level to the roof level/slab level.

If columns provided in drawings then RCC columns to be laid.

Rain water pipe is to be embedded in walls.

Fixing doors, windows and ventilators frames in walls.

RCC (Reinforced Beam & slab for roof) including M S Steel bars according to the designs.

Tile terracing lay with brick tiles on the top of the roof slab.

Fixing doors and windows shutters.

Fixing cupboard in the rooms and Kitchen etc.

Fixing iron grills for safety of the house.

Providing cement plaster on ceiling and walls.

Laying floors including base coat.

How to Restoring Brickwork

Brick facades provide a dramatic architectural style for a building. Brick structures have been used since the early 1400s and modern bricks (clay red blocks that are typically 2 by 6 inches) have been widely used since the 1800s. With the historic nature of many brick buildings, it is inevitable that many of these brick structures need a cosmetic restoration.

Difficulty:

Easy

Instructions

Things You’ll Need

New brick block Water Bristle brush Dish soap Bucket Hose1

Combine dish soap and water. Mix approximately two tablespoons of dish soap with one gallon of lukewarm water in your bucket. Stir the mixture together until you develop a frothy solution. Drop your brush into the mixture and let set until the bristles are saturated.

2

Scrub the bricks you wish to clean. Using the bristle brush, begin to scrub the bricks to remove excess dirt. Only scrub in one direction to avoid scratching and excess wear. Make sure you remove all caked-on debris and particles. Make sure to wet every brick, even if there is no visible dirt.

3

Soak your new brick block in the water. Drop your new brick into the soapy solution and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Make sure this brick is a similar shade of brick to the ones you wish to clean. Additionally, make sure it is the same clay material and not made of concrete and painted to look like a brick.

4

Rub the new brick against the bricks you wish to clean while both surfaces are still wet. This will transfer the color of the new brick onto the old bricks and give them a refreshed look. Make sure to rub especially well over any scratches and scuffs. Constantly rotate the new brick so that you are using a fresh surface from time to time.

5

Bricklayers London , Bricklaying London, Bricklaying contractors in London, Bricklayer London

Allow the restored bricks to dry and determine if they need further cleaning If there are only minor touch-ups left, you can rub the area with the dried new brick. Also, you should hose off the bricks to remove all soap. Leftover soap will result in a dingy finish.
